What’s been going on?

'We haven't done any gigs in quite a while now - everyone has been busy on other projects, including other bands and we've all generally been keeping life and soul together. There will be a reconvening to play again when the time is right. I've learned this is generally how it goes with The Milks and also learned not to fight it or try to hurry things along. We are busy planning a couple of short films to accompany some of the songs from In Colour and there's also talk of filming a live performance at some point soon, probably from the comfort of our own surrounds with a few friends.

There's a heap of brand new songs in the works too but the plans on when to record are not fixed at the moment - again we will keep you posted... but it all goes forwards, always forwards.' Meanwhile we hope you’ll enjoy the songs on In Colour.

Please keep saying hello - we like the encouraging things you send - don't be strangers.

What’s In Colour all about?

Recorded between 2006 and 2008 in the same sessions that produced last year's Dog Eared Moonlight album. A total of 26 songs were finished and mixed during that period and right up until the tracks for DEM were settled on there were all sorts of ideas as to what shape it might take -  one plan was to release a sprawling monster with everything on it! Mercifully, you were spared the 85 minute double album as it just seemed like too much music in one go. The other thing we didn't want to do is separate the songs into obvious categories - like quiet and loud. There was a lot of agonizing over what to include on the first of the two albums and there were quite a number of tracks that despite being favourites just didn't fit.

One of the main difference between this album and DEM is that it feels a more like a band record with a few acoustic interruptions, rather than the other way around - It’s certainly a lot closer to how we sound as a live group. One friend has described In Colour as the summer to DEM's autumn, I think that pretty much captures it.

What’s the plan?

It will initially only be available as a download, although there will be a chance to get your hands on one of a very limited, numbered run of promo discs. These will be given away free to the first 300 people who download the album from the APE site and will feature the beautiful artwork created by Helen Lord.

We here at MHB HQ are currently waiting for the details of the release date, as soon as we know we'll post it up.
